Situation : It is a charming ground floor apartment in a detached hundreds of years old farmhouse with traditional character, on the edge of a small rural village which is surrounded by lovely rolling countryside. Local village shopping and amenities are within 5 minutes drive.
It is approximately 15 minutes drive to the medieval town of Mirepoix where there are most amenities including tennis, cinema and swimming pool. The towns of Castelnaudary, Villefranche-de-Lauragais and Mazères are about 20-30 minutes drive and each has motorway intersections giving easy access to Toulouse, Carcassonne or the coast.
Visit local vineyards of the Malpere, Corbières and Minervois regions or taste the delicious traditional regional dishes.
Swimming, sailing, windsurfing and fishing can be enjoyed on the large reservoirs of Montbel or La Ganguise, each being about half an hour away. It is an ideal touring base for the traditional historical attractions, the Mediterranean and Andorra (where, in winter skiing can be enjoyed).
It is an easy motorway drive from Calais. The distance from Calais to Plaigne is about 750 miles.
Property : The apartment is part of a traditional stone built farmhouse set in over 4 acres of pretty south facing country garden and arable land. The apartment is full of charm and character with beamed ceiling and fireplace.
There is a lounge/dinette with kitchen area. The bathroom has a bath/shower, washbasin and WC. In the bedroom there is a double bed. There is also a sofabed in the lounge. A cot is available on request. The kitchen is fully equipped including a microwave oven. There is a full inventory for four persons. Bedlinen and tea towels are provided. Bath towels can be requested for a small fee.
The pool is on one of the garden terraces overlooking a wonderful panoramic view of the Lauragais countryside. Our visitors have their own garden furniture, complete with a parasol and barbeque.
Parents, if you want some time to yourselves, we offer a babysitting service!
Representation : The English owners are resident and will offer you a friendly family welcome, summer and winter and provide you with guides and information if you wish to do some sightseeing. Or you may wish to relax in the garden enjoying the sun and some local wine or have a dip in the pool with tranquil surroundings and beautiful views.
Please note that the apartment is not available for hire from summer 2008 until further notice.
